Kids really do grow up fast, but this dad was completely ready for that fact. Frans Hofmeester, a dutch filmmaker, recorded his daughter Lotte every week from when she was born on October 28, 1999 and compiled it all into one 4-minute video.
He also created a video for his son Vince who was born when Lotte was 3.
Hofmeester explains on his website that sometimes his children didn’t want to be filmed, but got the shots anyway when he distracted them. He uses the filming sessions as a way to bond with his kids, using it as a means to ask them about their respective weeks and events in their lives.
On a larger scale, he’s been quoted as thinking, “this is the most photographed and filmed generation ever, but what are we actually doing with these pictures? They just sit in a file on the computer…We don’t often look at the photographs we take, not in the same way that an artist would look at his paintings.”
