In an interview with BBC’s Rory Cellan-Jones, world-famous British scientist and scientific mind Steven Hawking makes known his grave opinion regarding the advancement of Artificial Intelligence:
Says Professor Hawking: “Once humans develop Artificial Intelligence, it would take off on its own, and develop at an ever increasing rate. Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution couldn’t compete, and would be superseded.”
Technological advances have been a constant with our modern society since the Industrial Revolution, and only recently in the 21st century are we seeing what this advancement into the digital age means: loss of privacy, cyberterrorism, and now the potential for the creation of a technology to surpass the human capability. Hawking provides incredible insight, and humanity is forced to consider its position as the dominant species against technological innovation in this respect. Food for thought.
